'WordPress way' is the best way to make sure that the code you write for WordPress is compatible with not only WP itself, but majority of the plugins out there. It also ensures that your code is backwards compatible. It's the best way you can code in WordPress. It cannot be directly translated into other languages - but then again its mainly the knowledge and good use of hooks, filters and other modern tools which are prevalent in many modern frameworks and apps.
