They weren't 'stewards of fortune'. They lived in the social democrat era when one could get a college education by working part-time a few hours a day. They got into jobs that allowed them to have just one member of the family working and living comfortably. They could even buy a house with that salary. The majority made their 'fortune' like that - having bought cheap houses that appraised later thanks to the inflated real estate industry.

They were also the same ones who voted to dismantle social democracy to save themselves a few percent of taxes in their greed. The result is a privatized, cutthroat capitalist society in which the later generations can't even make ends meet, and there are no social programs to help anyone float.

Boomers weren't stewards of anything. They were those who destroyed the society that was meant to be stewarded.
