They do say that, including a lot of other things, even before moving - just check out the goingtospain, digitalnomad etc subreddits. Even before moving, they start to complain about the country, say how it is backward, and lecture the locals how they should do things.

They do this even as they ask how they can emigrate out of the collapsing societies that the US and the UK have become and move to a country run by a socialist-communist government. They want to benefit from social programs, rent control, socialized healthcare, infrastructure, and the better - or at least, not collapsing - society that those create. But they don't want to pay for it. Some even go to the extent of lecturing the locals about how they need their money so the country should just let them dodge taxes. It's literally arrogant, contradictory selfishness.

However there is a pattern: The majority of these seem to be from Angloamerican countries, mainly the US and the UK (now that I mention it, I rarely saw such behavior among Aussies or Kiwis). Is it the tabloid culture that plagues the UK... Is it the selfishness that has become America's culture... Hard to say... But the behavior patterns are literal craziness: Man, you are escaping from a country that has become unaffordable for you even as a high-income individual. You are moving to a country that has extensive social programs so that you can to afford to live. Stop.lecturing.the.locals. It’s because they have been doing things better than your country that their society is not collapsing and you are escaping there from the hellhole that your country has become.

But they can't understand it when called out: These people are so arrogant to the extent of thinking that they are exceptional, on top of the world, and come from 'the best' countries. A delirious contradiction that strikes the reader when reading their questions about immigrating

They do not realize that they are now an economic refugee, not even an immigrant. They are escaping from their country which has become unaffordable and unlivable. They are not immigrating to another country for any other reason. But of course, hiding this reality behind things like 'digital nomad', ‘expat’ labels, etc helps. And some think that their situation is different because they have more wealth/income than the locals. No, man. You are still an economic refugee, not even an ordinary immigrant. Definitely not an 'expat'.
