That's because anyone can participate in crypto in contrast to the limited audience of the earlier financial tools that allowed only a selected, upper class minority to be able to access them through the gating mechanisms they had. Rich had a right to gamble and get richer. The poor - not so. Crypto changed that by making financial transactions accessible.
