Reduced hour work weeks did not work well when they were tried. It does not give people enough time to get into work mode while at work, and odd amounts of time cut from workday causes people's lives to go off sync outside work as well. So no reduced hour work week experiment seems to have provided desirable results.
On the other hand, Microsoft Japan seems to have gotten stellar results with 4 day workweeks. Considerably happier and more energetic employees on top of added 40%~ more productivity.
