Mainly Angloamerica, seems to have a large population who resort to smearing everyone else to appease their sense of self-worth and escape the problems in their society. Not the entire populaton of Angloamerica, surely, since places like California, American West, New Zealand etc seem to exhibit different mixed behaviors in general. But, in American East Coast, England and some parts of Australia this behavior seems to be a cultural trait.
Today, this sentiment of superiority does not seem to take take the form of saying 'we are superior' like the Angloamerican - or rather, British - nationalism of late 19th century. It seems to have been hidden behind a veil/vehicle of 'democracy', 'freedom', 'being civilized', 'human rights' etc. Its being exercised over it, and everyone else is somehow made uncivilized and antidemocratic in order for this formula to work.
So, for example, even as people are left to die if they cant pay for healthcare in the US or the US keeps murdering everyone in Middle East, its still 'others' who are violators of human rights. Or whereas food banks dot the UK landscape, it is China who has horrible poverty.
And if there isnt anything that works, then they just make up something, like how Russia is being a dictatorship or China doing genocide in Xinjiang, and they smear their main competitors over those lies. And people willingly believe those lies depending on their bias and they defend the lie at whatever cost.
We saw this phenomenon break out from behind the veil of civility during Brexit debacle. Thanks to that, now this behavior pattern is very easy to identify - its the same thing on every topic: Demean and criticize everyone else, smear them with lies if necessary.
