After doing hard right turns on every issue, openly, stubbornly supporting, helping, and funding a genocide, and betraying all of their election promises and every voter demographic that supported them, the “Third Way” Clintonite/Obama Democrats managed to pull off another defeat to Donald Trump yesterday.
They were so out of touch and so uncaring towards their voters that it was embarrassing to watch. They acted against their own voters’ interests on every issue ranging from inflation to foreign wars and even immigration and ‘the wall’, but their sociopathic, racist attitude towards their Arab & Muslim voters took the cake:
The rally where Harris shut up those who protested the Gaza genocide by saying “I’m speaking” was at Dearborn. The Democrats even made it into a slogan. Look who’s speaking now…
Harris’s word salads did not contain any policy or promise on any issue, but it was direct and honest about its support for genocide — which made the contrast even starker.
Dems running their campaign on a watered-down version of Obama’s 2008 “Hope and Change” format mixed with Clinton’s ‘data-driven girlboss’ approach did not do any favors to them either. When you are actively committing genocide on top of having brought backbreaking inflation mixed with a housing crisis, whatever you say about ‘hope’ won’t have any buyers and your ‘joyous’ attitude appears surreal.
So the end result was an embarrassing, crushing defeat. They lost the Senate too. And even lost the popular vote.
But Nothing Of Value Is Lost
The Democrats never intended to change anything whatsoever, which is why all of their election promises of 2020 were broken. They even dropped doing identity politics when not doing it became more opportune for them.
The Democrats are still dominated by East Coast Old Money Aristocrats who are extremely out of touch with their own people. These types are just late 19th-century aristocrats who think that the plebs will have to vote for them no matter what they do if they do so much as give some attention to their complaints — if it is in the aristocrats’ interest to do so. If the US elite is out of touch, the East Coast Old Money Aristocrats are even more so. That is why they can promise you one thing today and do the opposite tomorrow. And then scold you if you object and don’t ‘fall back in line’.
So nothing of value was lost with the Democrat’s loss. They weren’t doing anything for anybody and they never intended to.
It’s Time To Take Up Matters In Your Own Hands
Change is not something you make happen by passively ‘having hope for the future’ and loading that hope on the bandwagon of out-of-touch, lying aristocrats.
Both change and the future, are things you build brick-by-brick by taking action every day.
They happen through actively creating the future by building the blocks of the future society and not through merely organizing every 3–4 years to vote. The societal change of the future must start with the changes we make to how we live, socialize, work, and think & talk today. The seeds of the future society must be planted in the communities and movements we create today.
The change must not wait for an unspecified, far away future that can ‘maybe’ happen. The change must happen right now, right here, in all the social groups that we belong to — from the neighborhood to work.
This is how the far right changed American society. They started with Bible study groups in the 1950s, formed the John Birch Society, then became a coherent, self-supporting proto-society, then a movement, then literally society-within-the-society, then took over local and national economy and politics.
That’s what “Project 2025” is. It was already there and underway through the last 70 years. It didn’t come to being suddenly with Trump, it definitely didn’t come to being with the Heritage Foundation publishing some papers about it. The “Project 2025” label is just the Heritage Foundation putting a label on it and claiming credit. They didn’t come up with it. It was already there.
And that is how society changes… By people actively creating the future society through creating small communities, and then social movements. Through creating new ways of living and a new culture. Not through coming out of the woodwork every 4 years and voting for out-of-touch aristocrats who pretend they care.
If the far right was able to do it, the left and the progressive forces can also do it.
Therefore, for the left and the progressive forces, the Democrats’ loss is a chance to break out of the hubris of the old society and start a new one. The liberals can tag along if they manage to overcome their privileged indifference.
All that is required is to drop adherence to the established societal norms that ensure compliance with the existing capitalist economy and politics and adopt new ways of living, working, producing, and consuming.
The old ways don’t work. The new ways must be born by actively refusing the old and choosing the new.
